Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between gold filled and gold plated?

Gold filled jewelry is created by pressure bonding an actual layer of gold to another metal.  Although a gold filled piece of jewelry is not solid gold, it has the same desirable properties and look of solid gold.  Wearers who are sensitive to certain metals can wear gold filled without worries of an allergic reaction.

Gold and silver plated jewelry is electroplated or "dipped" to deposit and bond a very thin layer of gold or silver over a base metal.  It is therefore less expensive, however with this method the gold or silver layer can fade with use.

The majority of our collection uses 14K gold filled or sterling silver parts, chains and accents for its higher quality and longer life.  High quality gold and silver plated accents and focal pieces are occasionally used and are always stated in the product descriptions.

How do I measure for my bracelet size?

Use a flexible tape measure or strip of paper and a ruler to measure closely around your wrist just below the wrist bone.  For:
a snug fit, add 1/4" to 1/2"
a comfort fit, add 3/4" to 1"
a loose fit, add 1-1/4"
Choose the bracelet size that is closest to this measurement.

How do I care for my jewelry?

Do not swim or bathe while wearing your Samata Stones jewelry.  We recommend storing your jewelry in a non-humid location to lessen tarnishing to the metal accents, which will naturally happen overtime, especially with sterling silver.  Simply use a jewelry polishing cloth to clean off any tarnish.

We recommend doing an energy cleansing of your stones from time to time.  You can simply place your jewelry in the soil of a plant or garden, use sage if you have some or leave them in the moonlight for a few days.
